Principal and Founder

George G. PetrenasGeorge is the founder of Strategic Performance Solutions. He has many years of practical senior executive experience in a number of very successful organisations. With more than thirteen years experience as a Managing Director he has confronted all of the challenges which abound in growing organisations, especially those in competitive and complex markets.

After having been a Technical Manager, Marketing Director and a Sales Director in earlier phases of his career and working at several major companies, George was appointed as Managing Director in 1994 and given the challenge of establishing a new affiliate of an international pharmaceutical company with responsibility for Australia and New Zealand. He steered the organisation through a difficult and challenging start up phase. With his new team, he had to plan and develop the business so at to compete with organisations much larger and more resourced than itself in these early stages of development. Under his leadership it became one of the most successful healthcare businesses in the Australasian region and was the fastest growing company in the market for several years. In the year 2000 its parent acquired another healthcare company and once again this had to be assimilated into the existing organisation in Australia and New Zealand. George then continued to grow the business as Managing Director for a further four years until the end of 2004, by which time he had been Managing Director for ten years. By the end of that tenure the company had become one of the leading organisations in the healthcare and pharmaceutical business and had achieved a reputation as an employer of choice.

In 2005 an opportunity arrived for a broadening and diversification of experience and George accepted the role of Managing Director of a very large events and exhibitions business for three years. This expanded his experience in the service related industry, in particular the B2B market. During this time he concentrated on growing the business and developing an empowered management team responsive to market needs and the changing business environment.

He has personal experience in the issues involved in establishing and growing a new business entity and fostering its development to become an industry leader. He has been personally involved in mergers and acquisitions and knows what it takes to continue to drive a business forward and prevent the development of an atmosphere of uncertainty and insecurity.

He had been on the Board of industry associations for many years including a term as Vice Chairman.

He is a strong advocate of developing competitive advantage through in depth analysis of the market and defining the strategic positioning of the business and developing detailed execution plans to make the Vision a reality.

He believes that the most powerful organisations are generated through having motivated empowered staff that knows their part in contributing to and ensuring the organisations long term success.
